Gods and Godesses - Hindu Religion - 330 Million Gods

Query: Hindu religion has a pantheon of Gods and Godesses. Some verses of Gita say that there are Demigods and God (Krishna) and that worship of Krishna is superior to that of Demigods. Must I leave worship of Durga and start worship of Krishna?

Vijay Kumar:
In every religion there is no dearth of gods however in Hinduism it exceeds all levels of sanity! As per Hinduism religion there exist 330 million gods. This existence of gods and goddesses is primarily related to Hinduism mythology. However as per Bhagavad Gita... those who indulged in praying to gods and goddesses looked forward to prosperity and wealth. They had nothing to do with spirituality. Such people were travellers of religious path (path of rituals)!

For seeking god, for reaching God in present life path of spirituality... path of jnana yoga was mandated by God Almighty! As per Bhagavad Gita, God Almighty was one termed Brahman in Hinduism ... the one and only god. God Almighty termed Brahman in Hinduism had no relation with various gods and goddesses. All gods and goddesses were manifestations of God Almighty and mother earth! If we looked forward to material riches... we could pray to any god or goddess!

Lord Krishna was distinct from all gods and goddesses. Lord Krishna truly was an embodiment of God Almighty. Lord Krishna was an avatar of his era... God manifest in human form! Lord Krishna existed physically on mother earth. No god or goddess ever manifested physically on mother earth. Lord Krishna... an avatar of his era, a savior... messiah showed humanity path to reaching god in ones lifetime. It is through teachings of Bhagavad Gita human beings reached stage of enlightenment forever! Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism formed epitome of spirituality.

For traveling path of jnana yoga and reaching God Almighty in present life... worship of any kind was not necessitated. I believe in Lord Krishna and Bhagavad Gita more than anything else. But throughout life I never worshipped Lord Krishna. I was always after his teachings contained in Bhagavad Gita. Prayers to God Almighty were meaningful only if they catered to welfare of mankind at large. I was never a believer of religion... I always traveled path of pure spirituality!

Full text of query: Hindu religion has a pantheon of Gods and Godesses. Are they essentially all same and represent the common Supreme? Some verses of Gita say that there are Demigods and God (Krishna) and that worship of Krishna is superior to that of Demigods. In Bengal, worship of Mother Godess is more popular. Does it mean that i should leave worship of Durga and start worship of Krishna? I am confused please advise.
