To understand
the highest pleasure in life in the present physical World... we need to dive
deep into the field of Spirituality
first. We also need to understand the meaning of pleasure.
For
most adults the pleasure would mean enjoying sex. Those with a love for nature
may define the most pleasurable moment of their life being reaching the top of
the mountain of their liking. Others may say the most pleasurable moment of their
life would be sitting hand in hand with their beloved on a Sunny beach.
While
for some the most pleasurable moment of life may be a day out with their children!
In truth, as many people... as many definitions of pleasure can exist! The pleasure
one enjoys can never be expressed in words. It is primarily out of bounds of senses
like the beautiful fragrance of a flower. We can feel it but almost impossible
to describe.
To
everything in life there are always two facets. One on the physical plane and
the other on the Spiritual plane!
Our physical self... the body of a human being is the truth for a life span of
70 to 80 years. But, the present body is ephemeral. Comes the time and our atman
the soul within shall cast aside the garment and takeover a new body.
Does it mean that those
on the path of pure Spirituality have a different definition of pleasure? In fact,
yes! For them the physical manifested life is a fleeting moment in the total cosmic
life span of 96.4 million earthly years for our atman the soul within. They all
the time desire coming face-to-face with God and which is possible only after
having transgressed the domain of physical life by taking control of senses and
the mind in totality. reaching the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi... and in communion
with God all the time... is the moment that is most pleasurable for any living
Human being.
Every seeker of Spirituality looks forward to the time when one shall gain enlightenment
and finally salvation (moksha in Hinduism). The moment just before gaining enlightenment
is the most precious time for any serious seeker of Spirituality. This is a stage
of Nirvikalpa Samadhi when one at his own will have direct communion with God.
To cross over the ocean of Samsara (earthly abode) is the most pleasurable moment
in the life of a human being. One reaches this stage only after having reached
the 8.4 millionth manifestation.
This
is a stage of ultimate pleasure known as bliss in the Spiritual terms. This stage
cannot be defined in words. A stage... when our atman the soul within shall not
be required to manifest again and again. Stated in simple words... it means that
death of body at the end part of the cosmic life.
On the physical plane there is no end to pleasurable moments one can have in life.
As of today we may describe one of our experiences as the most pleasurable moment
but the moment we come across a more pleasurable moment than the previous one...
the definition of pleasure ceases to exist.
Imagine
the pleasure of an astronaut on a journey across the wide spectrum of space. The
indescribable moments while viewing the planet Mother Earth from a far of distance
is something which every astronaut feels as something most pleasurable in life.
Those viewing the whole Cosmos from a powerful telescope may find a cluster of
stars and galaxies as the most beautiful and pleasurable moment of their life.
The normal
death of a human being while proceeding on the path of cosmic life cycle... need
not always be pleasurable! All is dependent upon the Karma performed by one. One
who has indulged in sinful activities throughout life can never expect death to
be a pleasurable moment. For one who has been living a serene life all throughout
can hope to have a peaceful death.
It
is only at the time when one is nearing death that the ultimate realization dawns
upon every Human being and that is the feeling of the absolute truth that the
body is but a garment for Atman (the soul within us). And the realization that
our Atman (the real self) shall be taking a new body in next manifestation...
turns out to be the most pleasurable experience of life!
Having outlived its life in the fifth class when we come to know that we shall
get a new blazer in the next session instead of the completely worn out blazer...
we feel extremely happy at the end of the academic year. Similarly, at the end
part of the manifested life, when one is about to leave the body... our atman
the soul within is extremely happy about getting a new manifestation... a new
body in the next life. Some call it that death of body and weep over it but for
those who realize the absolute truth... it is but a changing of the guards at
the Buckingham Palace. Nothing more!
