Query: If everything is Predestined... How do we take control of destiny? How to perform requisite Karma? What is Manifest Destiny?

It is right when you say that everything is predestined... this is an absolute truth yet, human beings have been given some extra power by God owing to which they can manifest and transgress the predestined destiny. To say that we do not have any control whatsoever over our own destiny is wrong. We need to understand the crux of the matter... only then we can crossover the threshold of manifest destiny and take control of it in its entirety.

All lower forms of life right up to the stage of an animal cannot manifest destiny... they live as they are supposed to live... not as they would want to live!

Before continuing further we must be absolutely clear about what we mean when we say our life is predestined. Should we continue living as it shall be or do we have a divine power within us by which we can transgress the domain of destiny and be whatever we want to be!

We also need to understand the basics of the cosmic system that shall make it amply clear why at all everything was predestined. What are the circumstances that can get us hold of our manifest destiny. If there is atoll something that can give us control of our manifest destiny then why does not every Human being take control of his manifest destiny?

The process of Karma is required to be understood in its entirety... once the concept of pre destiny is clear to us... to perform the Karma accordingly is not difficult!

Every atman the soul within the moment it starts on its cosmic journey in order to cleanse itself and come back to its pristine pure form... it has to pass through a chain of 8.4 million manifestations and a total earthly life span of 96.4 million years. The dross carried by atman the soul within can only be removed by performing of the Karma by the body. If there was no dross to be removed... no atman the soul within would have been required to manifest a body... and there never would have been any cosmos whatsoever.

The purpose of every atman the soul within of manifesting a body again and again is only to cleanse itself of all the impurities ingrained in it while proceeding on the cosmic path in the ever-expanding cosmos ever since the big bang occurred. The cleansing process... the act itself is defined as Karma that every body is required to perform. No body can ever continue living without performing requisite Karma. Performance of Karma is an ingrained act. It is not dependent upon our whims and fancies. If we do not carry out our Karma... we continue living a predestined life... the life of an animal!

If you need to separate one KG of gold ore from a lump of hundred KG of gold ore... you need to separate out 99 KG of impurities by performing required actions... these actions in the case of human beings is termed as Karma.

Traveling by the stairs is the normal route... the destiny is fixed... every Atman is normally required to pass through a chain of 8.4 million manifestations starting from the first manifestation as an amoeba (single cell formation), then evolving into a multi-cell formation, then evolving into insect life, plant life, animal life and finally the form of a human being. It is only as a Human Being that one can gain enlightenment and finally salvation (moksha in Hinduism).

Until one reaches the stage of manifesting a human form... life goes on as in the staircase model... the sooner we are born as a human being... we are given some privileges by God Almighty. We have been given the power of discrimination... we can think and act accordingly. This power of thought that is only available to human beings in general can make us take control of our destiny.

We can take the faster and the shorter route... go up straight by the lift. If we are passing through 8.1 millionth manifestation then it is possible that we can curtail cosmic journey and reach the last and the 8.4 millionth manifestation. The moment the cycle of birth and death ceases to exist... one gains emancipation forever from the circle of life and death... we become enlightened and finally gain salvation moksha!

If I were required to travel from New Delhi to Agra and having no means of traveling by bus or a faster mode of transport... the only alternative would be to travel on foot. After having covered some distance by the predestined mode of transport (in this case which is by foot) I may come across a motor vehicle driven by an old friend of mine. Having an empty seat he calls for us. It is upon us to curtail the journey by traveling in a motorcar or not.

Our decision in traveling by the motorcar that is being offered absolutely free of cost by a friend is in other words defined as the requisite Karma required to be performed by me. Unless I take this decision I shall not be able to travel by the motor transport. Having taken the right decision... I have curtailed my journey. It was only the grace of God that the motorcar driven by my friend came by... it was not a chance happening... I was just being offered the fruits of my Karma of the past.

To catch the lift... the shortest and the fastest route available... we need to follow the dictates of Lord Krishna enumerated in the sacred Bhagavad Gita. We cannot do without it. To dive deep into the inner realm of atman the soul within we need to understand the Bhagavad Gita in its entirety. Unless and until we understand the pearls of wisdom contained in Bhagavad Gita... it is not as possible for a human being to reach the last leg of cosmic life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation.

The process of Neti (not just, not this) as preached and advocated by Maharishi Ramana is to be followed in totality... Only then we shall be able to reach the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi. One reaches the state of Nirvikalpa Samadhi only having gained control over all the five senses and the mind. This is an essential ingredient for gaining absolute control of our destiny.

Having taken control of all the five senses and the mind, and reaching the stage of the Nirvikalpa Samadhi... we need to practice absolute celibacy. Practicing celibacy helps one retain the positive energy required to take the lift of life up and straight. This practice is required for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation... Only then the lift of life is available to us to cut short the cosmic travel.

All successful businessman... every Human being who has achieved worthwhile success in his life and reached the goal set by him... has mastered the art of celibacy. One has developed control over the wanton sexual desires. One has learned to channelise the creative energy to more positive means... this is termed as transmutation of sexual energy (sex transmutation) to more creative uses. In the process they gain quite some control over the senses and the mind that ultimately leads them to the goal of their life. Performance of Karma by a human being is limited to the goal we have set in our life. In order to achieve this goal we are required to pay a price... we need to serve the society and in return God helps us through our atman the soul within in completing our journey of life at a faster pace. We eventually land up traveling by the lift than the staircase.

In a nutshell, if we desire to take control of our destiny in present life... we need to initially fix a goal of life... thereafter we are required to practice celibacy and prepare our self for whatever services we may be required to give to God in return for his help in reaching our goal of life. This service to the society can be in any form and our atman the soul within helps us in choosing the same. Understanding the basic crux of Bhagavad Gita... as happened in the case of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana both of whom realized God within their lifetime... we cross the threshold of life... reach the 8.4 millionth manifestation.

Full text of query: I WISH TO KNOW THAT IT IS GENERALLY SAID THAT EVERYTHING IS PREDESTINED AND WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER IT. IF IT BE SO THEN HOW CAN WE DO 'KARMA' OF OUR CHOICE WHEN IT IS PREDESTINED.
