Query: What Does the Bhagavad Gita mean for
Hindus...
Vijay Kumar: What does the Bhagavad Gita mean for Hindus, Bhagavad gita
quotes on basic values of life! Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism is not limited to Hindus alone... it has universal
appeal! The teachings of Bhagavad Gita can be followed by any human being world over... belonging to any
religion... faith or belief! Hinduism truly is a universal religion not bound by limitations set by human
beings!
For assimilating wisdom contained in Bhagavad Gita one need not convert to Hinduism ever! For
Hindus... for followers, believers of Hinduism, Bhagavad Gita is the most sacrosanct sacred scripture existing on
mother earth! Knowing Bhagavad Gita any human being world over could reach stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana)
in present life!
Hinduism primarily comprises of many faiths and beliefs! Hinduism
is never termed a religion... it is always treated a way of life! The doctrine of Bhagavad Gita evolved during
battle of Mahabharata between Pandava and Kaurava Kings! When King Arjuna refuse to fight his brethren who happened
to be his arch enemies... the sermon of Bhagavad Gita was delivered by Lord Krishna to Arjuna... a Pandava
king!
The doctrine of Bhagavad Gita is not a religious tale... an epic to be told repeatedly until
one learnt the wisdom contained therein! The teachings of Bhagavad Gita contain A to Z of spirituality following
which one could easily gain enlightenment in present life time! One never reached God following religious path. For
reaching God travelling spiritual path was an absolute necessity!
As per Bhagavad Gita we are not a mortal human being that encases a cosmic consciousness...
our soul atman... the spirit within! As detailed in Bhagavad Gita we are a soul atman on its cosmic life cycle of
8.4 million manifestations... that entailed an earthly journey of 96.4 million years! Mounted with a bloated ego...
human beings failed to realize their true inner self!
The moment human beings negated their karma to zero... dissolved their ego (termed aham in
Hinduism) forever... one finally reached stage of absolute purity when in absence of dross impurities within our
soul atman (we as a soul atman) need not manifest a body further! The need to manifest a body further now ceased to
exist. A soul is termed atman in Hinduism.
Having become pure... we finally reached 8.4 millionth manifestation... the last in cosmic life cycle! The ultimate
goal of life for every human being always remained reaching end stage of life... 8.4 millionth manifestation when
human beings gained enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha)!
Travelling spiritual path was not a necessity for human self... the manifest human form!
Undertaking spiritual journey was mandated for every human being so that we as a soul atman could gain absolute
purity at the earliest! For negating karma to zero... for removing veil of ignorance... wisdom contained in
Bhagavad Gita was necessitated!
No human being on mother earth could reach stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) via any
religion other than Hinduism... so was ordained by God Almighty! In the entire history of mankind till date only
Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed gained enlightenment in West. Comparatively in India not hundreds but thousands
gained enlightenment!
Lord Krishna... Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Adi Shankaracharya...
Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana... all belonged to India! Stage of enlightenment...
stage of kaivalya jnana... Nirvikalpa samadhi (also termed absolute nothingness) is not that easily reached...
prime reason why in last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over... only two persons succeeded
in gaining enlightenment... Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana!
Both these spiritual stalwarts started their pursuit of God via path of religion... path of bhakti yoga! But
finally both switched to path of jnana yoga (path of absolute wisdom) in the later stages of life! The 700 shlokas
verses contained in Bhagavad Gita form summum bonum of spirituality! Following Bhagavad Gita... was a necessity of
spiritual path... never religion... path of rituals!
Hindus apart from Bhagavad Gita indulged in various Vedas (Hinduism revelations) and
Upanishads (independent treatises)! Apart from Bhagavad Gita, various Vedas and Upanishads, Hindus also studied
sacred texts of Hinduism such as Puranas, Itihasas, Agamas and Darshanas!
Amongst all... apart from Bhagavad Gita... indulgence in Upanishads (independent treatises)
definitely helped and expedited spiritual journey! But in present scientific age study of Vedas (also termed
Vedanta... end of Vedas) was not necessitated... nor the study of Puranas, Itihasas, Agamas and Darshanas which
were more inclined towards religious practices than spiritual!
The biggest hurdle Hindus faced in following Bhagavad Gita was... its contents could never be
devoured literally... it demanded reading in between the lines! As many readings of Bhagavad Gita... as many
different meanings one derived! For removing inner darkness... veil of ignorance... we had no other alternative
than to study Bhagavad Gita through path of contemplation!
No matter how many times a Hindu read Bhagavad Gita... its contents could ever be realized by one! It has rightly
been said... as many human beings... as many different paths to God Almighty can there be! A spiritual preceptor...
a spiritual master can become our guide in journey of life but even a spiritual preceptor cannot make one
understand gist of Bhagavad Gita!
Spiritual path always has to be travelled all alone. In their lifetime Mahavira, Gautama
Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed... none of these man gods ever had a spiritual preceptor... a spiritual
guru to guide them! So was the case with Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana. The uncharted path of
spirituality truly has to be travelled all alone.
When I started in search of God 11 years of age... I had no inkling what God Almighty,
spirituality; kundalini... the sacred Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana was all about! As time passed by I slowly realized
worth of Bhagavad Gita... the doctrine given to mankind by Lord Krishna! By 13 years of age I finally decided to go
in search of God... come whatever may!
I was prepared for every single sacrifice that God Almighty could ask on way! 25 years of
yoga meditation... my restlessness... patience, persistence and perseverance finally paved way for my realizing God
in 1993 at 37 years of age. This is my last birth... last manifestation on mother earth! Nowhere to go further... I
shall attain salvation (moksha) moment I leave my mortal frame!
I was born in a Jain family yet, I followed traditions of Hinduism from the beginning of life! When six years of
age I inherently realized that remaining truthful all along had its merits! Since then I never looked back. Even if
death dared me head-on, I was ever prepared for it! Following path of absolute truthfulness I could hear sweet
small inner voice of my soul atman that seemed to come from within the heart!
Prompted by dictates of my soul atman... I finally reached portals of God Almighty in my
lifetime! People say path of spirituality is full of thorns... my experience says path of spirituality is made of
thorns! During my spiritual sojourn I never ran after kundalini awakening yet, my kundalini energy awakened fully
absolutely unknown to me!
Facing multi hooded kundalini Cobra head-on was something that I feared most on spiritual
path! As a grown-up boy I felt afraid of this Cobra while sleeping... so much so that I shifted my bed for about a
month's time to my mother's room! Slowly I overpowered Kundalini Shakti... the most powerful energy made available
to mankind by grace of God Almighty.
Subduing kundalini energy made me reach stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi (stage of absolute
nothingness) when not a single thought entered my brain uninvoked! I exist in state of absolute bliss all the time!
Remaining in communion with God Almighty all the time I can invoke any cosmic power that is! In coming times I
shall expose to mankind the purpose of my human birth!
God bless all!
