Query: Question is : How long you need to practice to attain nirvikalpa
samadhi?
Vijay Kumar:
By Samadhi... you mean the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi! The ultimate goal
of meditation yoga is achieving the state of Nirvikalpa Samadhi permanently. This is also the ultimate goal
of life for every soul atman within our body! The stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi announces one having gained
enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) forever.
Beyond the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi there is nothing else to be
achieved in the cosmic system! Having liberated itself from the cycle of birth and death forever... the
released soul atman finally gains entry into the abode of God... the kingdom of God (aka Vaikuntha in
Hinduism).
Reaching the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi being the end goal of every
life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation... having negated the presence of dross impurities within... the
liberated soul atman finally regains its original pure pristine form!
How difficult it is to reach the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi is
illustrated from the fact that in the past about 150 years only two persons amongst 6500 million people
living on Mother Earth reached the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi... they were Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and
Maharishi Ramana!
Both Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana gained enlightenment
and finally salvation (moksha) in their lifetime! For human beings to reach the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi,
God Almighty has ordained a cycle of 1.1 million manifestations (an earthly abode of 12.4 million
years).
However... at every stage of life the journey can be cut short! By
practicing Neti (not this, not this) as preached and advocated by Maharishi Ramana... one finally negates the
presence of everything that is not God Almighty. Ultimately, what remains is God Almighty himself! The most
important prerequisite for reaching the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi is practicing absolute celibacy
(Brahmacharya Vrata) for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation!
The practice of absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years in
continuation finally leads one towards full awakening of the Kundalini. The moment this happens... the
Shahastra Pushpa (the thousand petalled lotus) within the brain existing behind the forehead opens up fully.
The enlightened being immediately reaches the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi!
The stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi means coming face-to-face with God
Almighty on one-to-one basis. When everything in the Cosmos gets negated... every single thought passing
through brain stops at its base... the soul atman within every human body regains its original pure pristine
form. Stopping the flow of thoughts altogether and that too permanently... reaching the stage of nothingness
is the reaching the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi forever!
Devoid of all impurities dross within... the liberated soul atman further
need not manifest a body! The need for the soul atman to work out its karma ceasing forever... the soul atman
finally gains absolute purity! Gaining absolute purity by the soul atman within announces reaching the 8.4
millionth manifestation... the last in the cosmic life cycle!
In whatever stage of manifestation I may have been... I simply wanted to
see and meet God in this very life! Following the path of absolute truthfulness... hearing the sweet small
inner voice of my soul atman... I finally transcended all barriers of mortal life... the ephemeral life...
the worldly life (aka Samsara in Hinduism)!
Gaining absolute control over the five senses and the mind definitely
needs time. Furthermore practicing celibacy for a minimum period of 12 years in continuation is also very
difficult! Practicing Neti... the Shavasana path of yoga one finally realizes the inner self... our soul
atman within! Life on the spiritual path is difficult... very difficult... but not impossible!
When Acharya Rajneesh (aka Osho) and sage Vishwamitra failed on the
scales of practicing absolute celibacy... what to talk of the present Kali Yuga when human beings consider
reaching the stage of Swami Vivekananda almost impossible! Swami Vivekananda never reached the stage of
Nirvikalpa Samadhi in his lifetime... he never was after self realization!
The uncharted path of spirituality is difficult to travel in the present
Kali Yuga of today! Yet, the fruits of traveling the spiritual path always merit traveling the spiritual
journey! Who knows what we shall be in the next manifestation... why not travel the spiritual path
now.
