Query: How can
I be enlightened?
Vijay Kumar:
Before we talk of enlightenment... we need to understand what
enlightenment truly is! Enlightenment is simply not a path... it is the end of cosmic life! One truly becomes
a Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed! In the last about 150 years' only two persons
amongst 6500 million existing on Mother Earth world over gained enlightenment... they were Sri Ramakrishna
Paramhansa and Maharishi Ramana!
Gaining enlightenment... reaching the stage of enlightenment is not that
easy nor is it impossible to achieve! Only those serious seekers of spirituality gain enlightenment who are
willing to travel the path of absolute truthfulness... practice absolute celibacy for a minimum period of 12
years in continuation... practicing Neti (not this, not this) the Shavasana path of
yoga!
Enlightenment can only be gained after establishing absolute control over
five senses and the mind. For reaching the stage of enlightenment, God Almighty ordained a journey of 12.1
million earthly years in the human form... not a small period of time by any means! One need not hurry on the
spiritual path yet, who knows what we shall be in the next manifestation... why not travel the spiritual path
now!
Most human beings on Mother Earth simply do not want to believe that
every human being has the potential of becoming a Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or prophet Mohammed!
As many human beings... as many different paths to God can there be! If we need going to Bombay from New
Delhi... we can travel on foot... board a bus... the train or the plane. We would definitely undertake the
journey as our pocket allows and the means available!
Whatever be the means... the goal of cosmic life always remains our soul
atman reaching the last leg of cosmic life... the stage of enlightenment in the human form! It is only in the
human form enlightenment can be gained! As a lady for all practical purposes... gaining enlightenment is too
difficult a task! Why?
In the history of mankind only two ladies till date gained
enlightenment... they were the famous philosopher Gargi and Maitreyi (wife of Sage Jnanavalakya... the
originator of Brihadaranakya Upanishad). It is in their memory the famous Gargi and Maitreyi colleges in New
Delhi exist. Enlightenment was never meant to be gained by ladies. The imbibed ingrained feeling of Moha
(attachment) practically prohibits ladies gaining enlightenment!
Devoid of the feeling of attachment (Moha in Hinduism) the function of
ladies on Mother Earth would not serve the purpose. Humanity exists because the feminine gender has a deeply
imbibed sense of togetherness... feeling of attachment Moha! To cut across the shackles of Moha (attachment)
was only possible for hard witted ladies like Gargi and Maitreyi.
Gaining enlightenment means breaking up of all relationships in the
ephemeral phase of life... life as a human being! As a truly enlightened person it becomes difficult to even
recognize those nears and dears whom you called your father, mother, sister, brother and so on! For an
enlightened one... all feelings of attachment carry no further meaning!
One practically rises above the attachments of the physical manifest
life... liberates self from the bondage of love and misery forever. Enlightenment announces liberation of the
soul atman within from the cycle of birth and death forever. After gaining enlightenment our soul atman
within regains its original prime pristine pure form forever!
After gaining enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) one finally takes salvation
(moksha). Thereafter it is a direct journey into the kingdom of God... the abode of God (aka Vaikuntha in
Hinduism). The kingdom of God is a place of no return... unless the dissolution of the Cosmos occurs... all
liberated souls atmans remain in the kingdom of God until eternity!
Before embarking on the path of enlightenment... one must decide what
really one wants in life! Having commenced the spiritual path... one simply cannot return into the family
fold again... the spiritual path is a one-way affair! Living in family life (Grihastha ashram)... gaining
enlightenment is one of the most difficult task... yet, not impossible!
Liberating self from the cycle of birth and death... reaching the cosmic
end of life... the stage of enlightenment is a noble goal to pursue! The first and the foremost requirement
on the path of enlightenment are practicing absolute truthfulness throughout. We need to control the five
senses and the mind for reaching the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi.
The stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi... the stage of nothingness simply cannot
be described in words... it can only be experienced! Only after reaching the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi does
one commune with God on one-to-one basis and that too permanently. The stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi can only
be reached after gaining enlightenment!
In the human form gaining enlightenment is the most pleasurable
experience for the soul atman within. One finally transcends all the barriers of physical mundane life!
Practicing absolute celibacy is another difficult hurdle on the path of enlightenment. Most human beings
unable to tackle the situation... Fail at this point! Sage Vishwamitra failed to practice absolute celibacy
for a continuous period of 12 years... he had to repeat austerities all over again!
Be serious if you desire pursuing the path of enlightenment!
